Expo 2025

EVERY MONTH I WEAVE

Wednesday 28 May 2025, we gathered to open Liselore Frowijn’s first solo show in Italy, Every Month I Weave, on the invitation of Lottozero‘s curator Alessandra Tempesti as part of their Soft Sculpture program (2025-2026) in Prato.

The exhibition takes inspiration from the life of Margherita Datini, wife of the renowned 14th-century Prato textile merchant Francesco Datini. Through soft sculptures and digitally woven jacquard tapestries, developed during my residency at Lottozero in October 2024, the body of work critically reflects on the invisible and historically undervalued labour of women and the role this has played within the development of Western economic systems.

Combining archival materials with contemporary imagery, Frowijn aimed to construct a layered narrative that links the overlooked lives of women in history to the conditions of today’s female labour force, especially within Prato’s multicultural textile landscape. Drawing on the ideas of Italian feminist philosopher Silvia Federici (1942), the exhibition offers a space for political reflection on the body, care, and labour, connecting past and present through traditional and digital textile techniques.

The exhibition Every Month I Weave has been extended and will run until mid-October 2025. The Kunsthalle at Lottozero (Via Arno 10 in Prato, Italy) is open for visits on weekdays from 10 AM to 6 PM and at weekends by appointment only. Please note: Lottozero will be closed in August.
